Toronto Skyline – My World Tuesday

Here’s a nice shot of the Toronto skyline, from the Toronto Island. Thought it would make a nice post for My World Tuesday. Hope you like it.

    beautiful shot!
i would have been inclined to crop the sky down just a little more so that the total focus was up the water into the city

  3. You broke a lot of rules and made it work perfectly, Dave!

  4. Thanks Amber and Scott. I don’t think I broke that many rules. 😉

I’m looking at moving abroad within the next year and I’m definitely considering Toronto. Can you tell me about it?

    • Well, Toronto is a great city in which to live, but it’s expensive. If you are a professional with a high paying job, you’ll find it pretty comfortable. If you are an average income earner you might find it a tad tough to make ends meet. There are loads of things to do in the city year round. If you like exploring and enjoy various other cultures, you certainly won’t get bored. Toronto is the multicultural capitol of the world, after all. As for the people of this city, well, we’re a pretty cold lot. But in fairness, that’s based solely on my own experience. I find it difficult to meet new people, but I’m very shy. We have a pretty good public transit system, if you don’t have a car. The city is very large, however, so ideally you’ll want a car to get around. For the past eight years our municipal government has been running the city into the ground with gross mismanagement and high taxes, but we’re really hoping that’ll change come the election in a month. For rich people I’d rank Toronto a solid 8 out of 10. For average earners I’d rank it a 6 out of 10. But all in all it’s a beautiful city with plenty to see an do.

Thanks for that information. I’m currently living in Melbourne so I don’t know if the living situation would be too different if I move to Toronto. I too am shy and find it hard to meet new people but at the same time, when you move to another country I suppose you are anonymous and it makes it a lot easier to talk to people and do things you wouldn’t normally do if you were back home and comfortable.

I’m glad nobody told ME about rules. LOL
It’s a beautiful shot. I just saw it today when I was looking for the timing for Skywatch Friday, and I saw your beautiful clouds here on My World Tuesday.

  7. Hi Katie,
For what it’s worth I hear Toronto is very similar to Melbourne and Sidney. If you do make it here, drop me a line if you have any questions. I totally agree that you’d probably have a much easier time meeting new people than I would, since I’m from here. Like I said, Toronto is very culturally diverse and when we meet people from other cultures we try hard to make them feel right at home. I know a girl who works at a local restaurant who is from Melbourne and only been here a short time. She really likes it.
