Giant Hydro Towers Panoramic

For the past month I’ve been doing daily reconnaissance of the area around my work, slowly building a shoot list for when the weather’s right. Today, while still colder than a well-digger’s knee out there, I made a run to one of the spots I’ve been planning to shoot. The above photo is a result of my noon-hour outing. It’s five photos shot vertically and stitched together to create a grand panoramic of the area. I suspect I’ll be back to try again. The clouds were pretty good today but I know there will be days when they’ll be outstanding. The whole area is fertile for photography if you know where to look, but I tend to be drawn to power lines and huge hydro towers. I plan to shoot a sunrise here but will have to wait until the sun is rising a tad earlier so I can shoot it and then make it to work on time. Or maybe I’ll head up on a Sunday morning. Anyway, hope you like it.

I snapped this photo from my office window this morning. We’re on the second floor so I have a nice vantage point to catch the rising sun. Sadly, there was a lot of reflection from the glass in the shot, but with a little love in Photoshop I was able to rid the photo of most of the reflection. The sky wasn’t quite this dramatic but it certainly was pretty cool. I used Lightroom to dial it up into something cool. Hope you like it.

I see you have figured out lunch time and workplace photography. The only way to not be just a weekend photographer when it’s dark when you get up and dark when you get home. Now if I could figure out how to not fall so far behind on blog viewing and commenting.

  4. Yep. Now that I’m more comfortable with work I’m okay to go out at lunch hunting for shots.
