Well, here’s my shot of the big ol’ moon from last night. I couldn’t believe how many people tripped down to the beach to shoot this. To be honest, I struggled with the settings and for the life of me couldn’t get a really sharp shot. I think it comes down to the cheap kit lens I’m using. Oh well. Another issue was composition. I felt that if I shot the moon all by itself you wouldn’t have anything to compare it to, in order to get a better sense of scale. That’s why I set up behind the guy watching from the rocks on the shoreline. I sort of envied him, since he seemed to be there just to watch it and take it in. My, I was too busy playing with controls, trying to focus and get a good shot to truly appreciate the event. But at least I have it here to remember, right?
DROP A LINK TO YOUR MOON POSTS: If you were fortunate enough to capture the moon last night, please feel free to drop a comment here with a link to your moon post on your blog, so we can all have a look. Thanks.
BLOG TO: Check it out, I made the lead photo for the moon shots in a local onlione magazine called BlogTO. Pretty cool, eh? You can check it out here.
Really great shot! Love how you chose to take it with the man sitting there. Adds soooo much more to the photo! =D
Thanks Anna. It really works better with a secondary subject, doesn’t it.
loved the pics!
These really are great! I love seeing shots of the moon that aren’t “typical”! The colors really work here – it’s a great effect!
Here are my shots:

Thanks Holly, I agree. Love your shots, too, especially #4. The first three with the moon hidden in the trees are excellent. Love that moody effect. Nice work.
I love the second shot; the red moon’s so beautiful, and the composition is great.
Oh that red moon is awesome. I love the way it looks like it’s melting into the water in the second shot.
Thanks Sunsetseasoul and Amber. At first I wasn’t sure about the effect on the water, but I’ve grown to like it.
Wow…gorgeous shots.!! Beautiful 🙂
Thanks Frances. You missed a big group. There were like 40 people or so. I couldn’t believe it.
These are great. I didn’t find a good foreground location this time. Maybe next month.

Thanks Scott. Love your moon pic.
By the time I remembered to go shoot the moon, the super moon was not that super. Congrats on getting the lead photo of your great melty moon.
Thank you Lynn.
