This is a pan and blur shot. I tend to hit and miss with this type of thing because I hold my camera tight to my body at waste level and then guess at framing as I turn my body and fire the shot. I do this to try to minimize any up/down movement in the camera while panning. I used to put my camera into servo auto focus mode and mulit-shot mode and then fire off a half dozen shots to ensure I’d get at least something usable. That works best. But when the subject just appears out of nowhere you have little time to start playing with the controls. I always keep my shutter priority speed at 1/15th of a second so that when someone on a skateboard comes by all I have to do is throw it into shutter priority and I’m ready to shoot. In the above case, it would have been nice not to have the second skater’s foot cut off, and to have the first skater in better focus, but I still like the shot. It’s energetic and dynamic and most importantly, fun.
On the 10:30-7:00 PM shift today. I frikkin’ HATE that shift. I don;’t sleep in so there’s simply no value to me at all. And there’s no time to get anything done around the house before I have to leave. Simply, it sucks big time. But I suppose I have to be a big boy and suck it up, right? 🙂 Anyway, Happy Monday, everyone. Hope you like today’s photo. I might post a second tonight, but tomorrow we’ll be back to one a day again.
