A pair of squares

I’m posting these two together (hence the use of the word “pair” in the title) because I sorta picture them as a set. They’re both approximately square, too. I wish I could say I planned it that way, but they’ve been cropped — roughly so. I’d love to give medium format film a try, since you’re forced to deal with composing your photos into a 6 x 6 square frame. That’s not as easy as it sounds. Anyway, back to the photos. Yeah, I picture them on canvas without a frame, but very large, like say 4 feet by 4 feet or maybe even more. I see them hanging on a brick wall in a downtown penthouse loft — ideally belonging to yours truly. Or possible an art gallery. No, let’s stick to the loft. And I’ve got them lit by the slimmest of chrome track lighting. The loft’s adorned with exposed old beams and a polished concrete floor. If they included a photo with the definition of “chic” in the dictionary, the photo would be of my loft. The couch is long and low and clad in dark leather. A solid 14 foot tall wall of glass overlooks the downtown core. It’s night and the city beyond that glass sparkles with life. Smooth jazz plays in the background while my guests and I enjoy martinis and oooh and ahhhh over my two square photos on canvas. Bite sized apps are presented on silver platters by beautiful women dressed in smart black suits. I’ve had the evening catered. We’re all having a wonderful time getting drunk and talking art and books and photography. It’s a great night to be alive. For now, though, I’ll just have to enjoy the photos on my blog. Oh well.
