Downtown Elephants

Here’s another from last weekend. This was a tricky shot, since I was with around 20 other photographers who were all clamouring to get their own shots of this elephant and her two calves. Of course these are only statues, but none the less. The problem was, I had my wide angle lens on and in order to get the shot I wanted I needed everyone out of the frame. The answer was pretty clever. I simply got everyone to sit on the nearby fountain for a group shot. While they were getting ready, I walked over and double checked the shot I wanted — like where to stand and such. Once everyone was in position, I snapped the group shot and immediately moved back towards the elephants to get this shot. And even though I was quick about it, I had only time to fire off a single shot before other members of the group were back in the frame. But I got what I wanted and that’s all that matters, right? Hope you like it.

The monochromatic nature of the photo well-fits the subject. Good job.
