Another day in Chinatown

Toronto’s Chinatown a funny place. There’s a lot to photograph but the community is used to see photographers around and mostly tried to avoid them. You’ll set up a shot and just as you’re about to pull the trigger, they’ll duck or turn away. I usually catch them with hip shots, but even then it’s not easy. Some I simply no longer try, because I know they’d rather not be photographed and I think I should respect that. The guy above did notice me and seemed not to mind having his picture taken. The shot itself isn’t all that interesting, but I do like the weight of it. It’s in balance, at least to my eye.

So we have Buskerfest on this weekend down at the St. Lawrence Market. I might go, but to be honest it’s usually so crowded that it’s hard to get a good shot of anything. On the other hand, I haven’t had a real break in a month, so it would be nice to take the whole day off. I’ll see in the morning how I feel. I still have a ton of work that needs doing so I should just stay home and push on. I won’t enjoy myself if I feel I’m neglecting my chores. Anyway, we’ll see tomorrow.
