Ladies in red

I shot this downtown on Bay at Richmond. It’s one of the storefront windows of The Bay department store. The Bay isn’t named after the street, but after The Hudson’s Bay in northern Ontario. The Hudson’s Bay Company is one of the oldest companies in Canada, actually. It used to be a fur trading company before Canada was even a country. Now it’s just another struggling department store trying to stay afloat in a sea of struggling department stores.

As for their storefront windows, they’ve always put on a nice display.

What I enjoy about shooting storefront windows with the reflections and all is it really gives you a chance to consider your composition. There are probably dozens of ways to shoot this and still get something worthwhile. I shot maybe six shots before I was happy with something. Even then, I think I could have done better. But the fun is in figuring it out.

Anyway, hope you like it.
