Tree Art

I shot this on Queen West a while back. It’s an old, dead tree and all that remains is the trunk, which someone has painted with graffiti. I saw the kid coming and knew he was going to skirt around the opposite side of the tree from my side. There would be a moment when he’d be blocked by the tree, unable to see me. The second he was, I raised my camera and readied myself for the shot. A half second later he appeared and I caught this. Not sure if he even knew I was photographing him. I thought it worked out well, especially considering I had maybe two seconds to plan out what I was going to do, as the scene materialized in front of me. With street photography you’ve got to be ready for anything.
